Scouts and Youth Groups
Why not try a fun-filled weekend with your scouts at White Pines Ranch? All
activities, equipment, five meals (plus a bedtime snack on Saturday) and lodging
are included in the per person cost.
White Pines Ranch offers an All Fun, No Work weekend for youth groups of all types
from the middle of August thru June. Girl Scout troops, Boys Scouts, church youth
groups, park districts - ANY organized youth group.
A typical weekend for your troop would be very much like down to a short orientation
meeting and a real ranch supper. Then, down to the barn for an introduction to horsemanship
by one of our ranchhands. (This instruction session is for safety purposes and is
required attendance for everyone.) Next, a good old-fashioned tractor-drawn hayride
followed by some free time for the youngsters to purchase souvenirs or play in the
game room. Bedtime is at 10:00 on Friday night and 9:30 on Saturday night. Lights
out and quiet at 11:00. Please bring your own sleeping bag, towels, pillows and
all bathroom articles.
Saturday's activities will be scheduled for your group and starts with a hearty
breakfast around 8am. There will be one or two horseback rides on Saturday, swimming
in season, a nature hike, fossil hunting, horse activities and many other fun things
for the girls and boys to enjoy. On Saturday evening, there will be country line
dancing, Bingo, another hayride, and campfire songs around the bonfire. Sunday morning
will be spent going on another ride (if you didn't have two rides on Saturday),
swimming, hiking, packing and cleaning up the dorm. After a wholesome Sunday brunch
and activities, it will be time to load up your gear and a bunch of tired scouts
and head for home. You can plan on a departure time of 12:00 or 12:30.
In winter instead of swimming we go cross-country skiing, tubing down the snow-covered
hills and, of course, we ride horses all winter long.
Lodging is provided in our carpeted and electrically heated dormitories. Our dorms
are complete with bunkbeds and adjoining bathrooms with individual shower stalls
and flush toilets. All this for a very low price! Our charges are listed below:
